Not off base at all. I’m a nurse and make a point to teach my patients as much as I can about their disease process, meds, what procedures I’m doing, etc. Any nurse who felt threatened by a patient having this knowledge would quite frankly concern me. No one in any industry should felt threatened by a knowledgeable and informed consumer. Anyone who does either has something to hide, is extremely insecure, or cares more about making a profit than providing a valuable service. Probably a mix of all three. Either way, I’d avoid them!

If I start to have thin hair as I get older, I’m going with a nice collection of Raquel Welch wigs. At night time, I’ll wrap my hair in a cute head wrap. But I’m not going to cut my hair short. It’s not me.

I bought Pantene volumizing root lift spray thinking it was hairspray and it’s the best volumizing product I’ve ever tried in my life (50 years old) $4 CAD - I bought some for my Mom and she was amazed too. I think most products are crap (for my thin sprouts) I had given up and I found this by accident, would never have bothered.

Thank you so much for this video! It helped quite a lot. I've had bobs for most of my life, but I had a pixie a long time ago. Due to some health things, my hair has gotten thinner. Also, I have a cowlick at the crown that makes it look like there isn't any hair growing there! 😅 I haven't liked my haircuts in a really long time, and I'm considering going short as I'm all out of other ideas. I just want to enjoy my hair finally! Thanks again!

Just subscribed. I am not a “natural” when it comes to styling my hair, somI do appreciate these videos. To the “cosmetology instructor” that wants to gate keep styling our own hair... I find that person unethical. If I pay money for a stylist (hairdresser?) to cut my hair, I of course want to know how to make it look good after I wash it. And as a nurse, we don’t gate-keep healthcare - we specifically teach our patients how to do for themselves whenever they can, with the goal of optimizing GOOD outcomes. Thank you for wanting the best for your customers.

What a joke I am 64 and I love my long hair. I grew it when covid hit from a super short pixie cut. I have waves and curls and I love it. My grey looks amazing in my brown hair.

My mother continued to color and process her curly hair into post menopause. It all broke off and she looked like don King. In my 40's I grew my hair out from a buzz cut. I don't cut it nor do I have to wash it every day because I don't use products. It's the healthiest and longest that I've ever had it. Heat and chemical products will ruin your hair and your health after menopause.

You absolutely are not off base. I have always struggled with styling my hair, and your videos are exactly what I have needed. Also, we are representing your work so, you as a stylist, should give us the best tools to display your talent. I work in physical therapy, and we explain to a patient why we want you to do a certain exercise and how it will help. Same logic, I think ?

Angie has gorgeous hair. I always thought she’d be so good as at as a narrator for audio books. She has such a soothing voice.

Thank you for teaching us how to style our hair at home. Nothing is more disappointing than getting my haircut, but never being able to get my hair to look as good as my stylist did.

I've been to salons and they can never style my hair nicely. I rather that they just leave it alone after the cut. But because the styling is part of the pay, I deal with it, while also trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that they know how to style (but so far, no one has impressed me).

I LOVED ❤❤❤this video!!!! I have a short layered bob similar to the woman in video but I have extremely thick natural curly hair. You pointed out a ton of mistakes I do when drying my hair so a BIG THANK YOU for that!!!! As far as the comment at end of video…..I say You Do You and I personally appreciate your time and your expertise in making these videos. I’m still continuing to go to my stylist but I’m happier with the cuts, colors, highlights because I have a little more knowledge about my hair and why it does what it does and how to correct it if it’s something I don’t like. I think you should be proud of your videos and know you’re helping a lot of folks. Those who write those things should maybe watch the video from start to finish, you never know, they might learn something. Please continue I appreciate it ❤

I have fine hair but a lot of it! I rarely use conditioner because it only flattens my hair. My hair is very healthy. I use minimal product before I blow dry, never use hot irons and a good can of hairspray is my best friend. And my hair is extremely straight!

As a regular person who wants my hair to look good btw cuts I WANT to know how to style it myself, so this education is so valuable. Of course you should tell us, and my stylist tells me what to do when I get it cut, too. But not to this level, so THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

Ridiculous, I love your videos. Just because we know a little more of what goes on behind the scenes doesn’t mean we still don’t need our stylist. What is the stylist trainer really saying… Might you have some better techniques…

First, re Justin's question about sharing this information, I say a big thank you, and never mind the complainers. After all, my stylist may (and does) give a good cut, and I might make her styling last nearly a week, but then I have to attempt to recreate myself (until my next appt, in other words), and that's where the video is so helpful. As for this video itself, it's spot on for my purposes. I was never much into styling, but now I'm older and I need to put in the effort, but my skill set is pretty limited. With this video, I have a better idea of what to do. My only additional comment is that this client has great hair to begin with. How about the same video with someone who has thin, gray, frizzy hair, rather than someone who has nice, thick hair.... But thank you for this video!

Ignore the haters. Your videos are the BEST on RUclips. Your explanations are excellent and really help us "general public" folks. You are helping the industry by teaching us how to communicate with our stylists, rather than just showing them a picture and crossing our fingers!!

I really appreciate your videos. Any time I ask my stylist questions, she gives me vague feedback as if she wants to keep all of the secrets. It’s frustrating going home, and my hair never looks as good as when the stylist does it. Then, it takes 2-3 weeks of messing with it to get it to a level I feel comfortable with.

Well as soon as you said front layers I said "how can I do that myself?" Ive been homeless for 20 years and always cut my own hair. I bend over and comb all of my hair to the front while its wet and cut it. I figured thats hiw I can get layers. 😂

They say the older you get the shorter your hair gets. I refuse to let that happen to me.
